Gosh, I am so glad he was able to see her as a human being instead of a vehicle through which he can vent out his frustrations! Apparently, he could tell that she was also a victim of her family. He realized it was inevitable for an enemy to torture you, but he could not comprehend how her family could beat her up so much to scar her like that. Could it be he felt more pity towards her than towards himself afterward, and hence let her go?
