Facts about the crystal organism in Chronicle is that they are ancient creatures that usually live near the earth's core. They can sometimes make tunnels to the surface to make a sort telekinetic puppet with creatures that run into it. These puppet them bring it food and sorts. The one crystal organism was supposedly really old for its kind and therefore more weak so it died midway trying to turn the 3 characters in which they gained their powers without being puppets.
