I worded it poorly. What I meant was that Miss Smith found a piece of foam left over from when Lucas opened the box. That means she knows he was snooping around. But instead of talking about it with him or questioning him she destroyed the foam in her hand and turned it to dust and blew it all over him. The first question remains
