space have unlimited resource... if they are able to travel through space they could have settled on any planet of any solar system ..... and no intelligent race would just go to war with planet with 3 species.... also they are able to live on mars then why would they become homeless when they could have spread to hundreds off planets.....
these races heads don't seem very smart a smart species should know that unless one side is overwhelminly stronger, a cooperative relationship is the best option. By waging war on a planet with 4 species, they are risking destruction completely. The vampires could totally ally with the humans, dwarves and elves to annihilate the kalis. this would be in their interest as the kalis are a species that wants everything for themselves. similarly they could ally with the kalis too and eliminate the three species left. A single wrong move could risk total annihilation, even of the planet itself. then everyone loses. In a situation with many strong parties involved, cooperation is the best option.
I think MC's old life was maybe a simulation or maybe the past, from the not-so-subtle foreshadowing (or I'm just dumb) the mc was actually the Morningstar kid (he says I'm back, yeah a gut feeling i guess)and maybe he was either sealed or died so his other friend (he does say finish the job so he can't be the mc himself but rather someone else) came the to alternate world to get him to read the novel for some prep and survive better this time.
