I thought Shira wanted Emma and Lorza together and that she hated Maeve. He needs to let her know that his plans have changed and he no longer wants to be with Maeve. Emma needs to know this, too. I think this is how and why he turns her into a vampire. I think her fever is from the venom in his fangs when he marked her. I think his fever is probably from drinking her magical blood. With her being his mate, she should be able to handle his marking her.
