This author is making the mc stupid. Just because the first and only three to come to his shop from the emporium were weak doesnt mean all others would be weak. First, the whole compulsory life and death battle was the worst plot line I have ever read. Second, when you have access to the monster pits, you should have spent some time grinding out some dp to increase your level or the skills. Instead he is just chilling around, waiting for the battle to start.
