that was a very good chapter, good job! i read the story pretty fast and im pretty sure you intend for our MC to be a good one that is stuck between two hard places, right? but with the plot point that voldemort tries to harm our MC with the soul thing you revealed a few chapters prior, that was a bit of a blow to me. well its function is not really revealed and it could be something else that he didnt discover about it yet but still. the whole story there are a few sprinkles of a potential plotpoint that our MC is not as good as he seems at first, with a steady escalation into more darker aspects for our MC. hes still only a first and now a second year student so i didnt expect blood sacrifices and such but i had the feeling he was on his way to there. but then out of nowhere there comes always the sledgehammer of "im a good guy in the HP world and voldemort needs to be defeated" that knocks me back out of the story a bit. i know voldemort is the bad guy but hes not Harry, he isnt destined to be his enemy, so i didnt understand his thought process in that why he tries to oppose him. loads of different characters came out living well and didnt fight against him in canon, so why not our MC too i thought. not to mention Marvolo literally saved his Soul from the Void, even if its unknowingly. if he doesnt want to jump in in support of Voldemort, the least he could do is stay on the sidelines when he deals with Potter, otherwise it just seems so ungrateful. But now with the Soul thing, it seems a bit like he is just getting shoehorned into conflict with him.
