Well i was thinking that someone ( Higher up or church) could take Ioann and implant either the flesh of Christ or a nail that has the blood of Christ. This could be either operation ( the reason would be that Ioann wounds far exceeds the medical aid they can give) or take Ioann as an experiment to have another Vasco Strada in the Church ( Kind of wood style naruto experiment on civilians) The motive could also be fundament with the compatibility of Herectic Crussader with non of the holy items except from the ones coming from The Lord. This is also with the theme of the choosen one and Herectical Crussader as with the blood or flesh of the lord + the power of belief and prayers he could transform himself into the real chosen one. Similar with the flesh and blood in him he is unworthy but because with that choose to hunt creatures of evil and evil in general is a crussader.
