I know that in Chinese it could mean either gender and there’s really no specific way to use for he/his/him and she/her like how we would in English but honestly it would make more sense and would be more fitting if in this novel it had used he/his/him when other characters refer to the FL cause at the moment she’s disguise as a male so it would be less confusing for readers if this novel had use he/his/him at the moment otherwise some readers would either be confused or think that the characters already know about FL being female. Unless its in FL pov/scene then it would be fine to use she/her or for those characters that has already know her real gender but when it’s in another characters pov/scene and their thoughts it would be better to use he/his/him since they obviously don’t know yet.
