I'm really happy to see a new chapter in this story. Minor plot-hole : Zane has just revealed the kitchen (which is also the domain of the house-elves) to the trio... however, Hermione (and probably Harry too) aren't supposed to know about it until 4th year (she created the SPEW organization against what she called "slave labour"). In your story, they are not surprised by the discovery of the kitchen and Hermione doesn't object to what she discovers and what it means.
