Whatever makes the most sense for you. I did not want to waste too much time on the topic. It was just meant to be a bit of fun world building. The group may or may not have to fight a queen in the future. I have not decided if it is something I want to have happen. There are multiple ways it could work, though. I never specified what would happen if a queen is killed or if the offspring does not survive. One example would be a hormonal reaction. Like a Queen's body can't produce another female if she senses younger female of her clutch in nearby. Or you could say that princes are able to change sexes in the event a queen dies. This is already a thing many fish irl do.
Jack_Routley:No I was thinking more about the finite number of queens with only one female offspring per queen with out intervention the number of queens will only decrease so even if you start with anything like than infinity they will ether kill all threats of avenchal die out ifs why humans need a birth rate great that 2 per female. In the case of the sahagin the need a princess birth rate of greater than 1 per queen for a sustainable population Ps sorry for the word wall on a topic that doesn’t really matter fantasy and all I just in joy science and spreading knowledge 😅
