As much as I want to see what the politics of the north joining the seven kingdoms between the faith of the seven being much more militant and the north bring followers of the gods that give actual powers I don’t see it happening with out a military defeat. Maybe have a few northerners become dragon riders but they can’t be lords and can only act in the defense of the realm.

The North should marry a dragon rider of middle earth or have a egg hatch to one of the Starks. Put the rider in a advisory role to the North to provide protection against other dragons. The environment of the North should protect against the army’s from the South. If not build a few more forts on the border.
