You can say that it makes sense all you want but at the end of the day it's because he doesn't want to. That's all. Everything else is just lip service. He can easily just pretend that the entire family were secretly on his side or something. Or say that they were spared as exceptions because of the exceptional service she provided. Of course there's also that her grandfather would probably be the highest level minion he has and be actually useful for something if given dragon blood and we can't have minions strong enough to actually help in a fight running around.
