I’m waiting for one of the contenders to drop the that they had Ares captured by the witch and used against her in order to win the tournament.

In my opinion, Nazneen has already “paid the price”. I believe Ares will find a way to get back to her becaue he is highly mission driven and he has begun to fall in love with her.

I Believe the witch/shaman knows what Nazneen has to do and has kept Ares for that purpose. Whether it is for or against her winning, the witch wants to effect the outcome, or he knows what Ares is and wants to use him for experimentation.
