Seriously, it doesn't make sense at all. If you go in a place just for show you have to show your presence, not hiding it. Plus why should he worry about the nobles opinion? They already want him dead and giving them a bit of face won't change it, plus not going to an huntig wouldn't be enough as a causa belli. In this whole chapter there isn't a single thing that makes sense. If you want a good novel don't force the plot.
Hmm your point makes sense but you have to understand that Yug and Callum are both a part of a system and they have to work together many times, like see each other everyday take part in discussions. When there is a war, discuss about, about the taxes and drought famine. These are the things where both their opinions will be needed. There are many times in life when you have to work and put up with the person you don't like, Yug just can't shut out everyone he has to give orders or he has to work with in future, maybe he can do that to nobles of the lower levels but doing that to someone who as the same title of the duke is very unprofessional, and against his teachings, yes people are being very bad but he is just doing his job he is trying his bet to be civil because in future his son has to be the duke he has to appear good in public as well. He hates Callum but hie is just putting up with him and at the same time keeping his guard up.
