why not making him go to another school? it would give you more creative freedom. the only downside i can see is not having a plot to follow but that can be a good thing, and if the day to day stuff doesn't work out then you can always time skip to major events and training and any projects he decides to do.

A foreign school would be more interesting. There'd be no need to baby sit the trio, fear affecting the plot or constant surveillance by Dumbledore.

thank you for this great chapter, I really like the political dimension of pureblood families. Moreover, Ian even if he is the genius of his generation, he does not master wandless magic nor occlusiveness at a very high level. I can't wait to see his years at Hogwarts
