I really don't like the idea of hp in novels. It's not like a video game where every part of the body takes the same amount of damage except for the head usually. Its supposed to be real life. Lets say he's fighting an enemy right and he break it's leg right -5 hp or something whatever. Ok let's say he's fighting a new enemy and it has 20 hp and he get a critical hit on its head blunt force boom -19 hp ok then he breaks it's leg would the breaking of the leg be killing blow. It makes sense in a video game setting because it would be unrealistic for game developers to add such realistic ways to die for creatures whose anatomy they would have to construct. But it isn't a video game it's supposed to be a real life situation for the MC where the laws of the world aren't held back by a budget that a bunch of human developers would have to follow.
