I'm wondering if the winged man is Jian's brother reincarnated or resurrected or something. He dabbled in ancient magic or dark magic..... something like that if I remember correctly. Makes sense to me why he wants the magic that ended up bonding with Veah. Jian had no idea why the dark sorcerer would want the box of magic, but bet if it's his brother then he would know how to use it
