it is quite similar to your novel in that novel also MC gets a letter from American school but the differences in that novel snape has a friend who like runs a portion shop he recommends him to join the Summer school it's interesting you should also read it you may get some good ideas from it but it's not complete though

I don't know what the chapter was like before you edited (considering the others comments) but I thought it was perfectly legible, good job.

with all their recent wars and such I'm suprised the wizarding government of England didn't insist on birthing rates and subsidize income to support magical children to boost their population

Of course he would approach Hermione one of the most annoying characters in the books, there are others much worse but a bad personality of one of the MC spoils a good literary work.
