I feel you messed up on that front for no good reason. The charm of the HP world magic is in its simplicity in the lower levels: Imagine, will, magic=result. i think people not understading him is because of him moving ahead of plot. wandless magic wansst mention in book 1 so the chracter arent aware of it.
