The story lace is fine, but I do think Max needs to seriously focus on his cultivation to catch up with Lilly. It's nice seeing him make friends and connections/allies early on that can help him in the future, but it just seems like whenever he's about to focus on cultivating something else comes along. But I guess that's what the Demon Continent is for. And of course with Rima getting a mentor, she's probably going to outpace Max soon as well.
