Assuming the “her” in “her parents” is Xue Ling and not his deceased wife, having him know her parents and them having somehow hurt him in the past is crazy. Talk about coincidences. If that is truly the case, it sounds like we either don’t yet know enough about her family (and the fact that she doesn’t have much money) or she doesn’t know that much about her parents. Also, if he does know them, that means there was some relationship and him saying she isn’t good enough for his son sounds hypocritical. It also sounds stupid because: 1) It is his second son and even if he does well, the majority of the family property will pass to his older brother. 2) They are a nouveau rich family that doesn’t need to marry into a high tier family for the second son. 3) She is a perfect fit because she is practical, strong and not afraid of him. She also isn’t after their money or power. The only thing she doesn’t bring to the table is a connection to another wealthy family and going that route could be a negative move since a wife like that will be more controlled and not keeping him in check.
