I would think his database for fatherly advice would advise the MC to not spoil his children to much. He should have just let them suffer for a while so they would listen to him the next time he told them not to do something. Good parenting is more a balancing act then anything else. Bad parents are extreme in either spoiling or neglecting the kids.
