The first chapter is powerful, but the relationship between Tayen and Gairett has yet to be disclosed. Also, I would suggest to end the chapter strongly, preferably a cliffhanger. For example a teaser into what Illusion is about to find out.
Illusion is a strange being i say... but, great start of a book author!
