I just had a thought. If Rain went throw her first nightmare, could Sunless ride along with her by using his Nightmare horse? It would certainly surprise Rain a lot. He would be saying "Your not getting away from me that easily." And then he will be coaching her on how to get the divine aspect along with the does and don'ts.

okay so we know Sunnys transformation ability is that he can turn his shadows into himself... rain is probably with the original who has no shadow, 2 of his shadows are in valor, and 2 of his shadows are in the citadel...where are the last 2 shadows? unless he never got his 7th core but then he's still missing 1 shadow

I wonder if she was taken by the Spell could Sunny accompany her into the Nightmare? The third Nightmare certainly, but what about the first and the second? They don't go into those with their physical bodies so I think he would be left behind, which makes me wonder... Do the first and second Nightmares happen inside each person? Does the Spell weave the Nightmare for them to live in their own minds and ascend? Knitting their cores during the first and making connections in their minds during the second one? What is a seed then? How does the Spell affect the soul during the third? With Rain taking the slow path I start to wonder... how intrusive is the Spell really?
