I really hope that the author will lean more heavily in the future on this "shadow cohort". I would love to see Sunny build a group analogue to the Fire Keepers and see a future clash with them. There are already some interesting parallels, like Kim being a "worse" Cassie, the ranged girl being a "worse" Kai and Sunny being a "worse" Nephis (he wants to be an equal but lacks something). It could be an interesting way to stand against fate for Sunny to win a possible future clash and show Nephis that way that he's not inferior
