Careful author, time travel is a very ambigous and diffucult concept to add to stories due to all the open ends it leaves.

I don't think it's time travel...That would make things messier than they are. If anything else I think they are interfering with a parallel timeline. I'm also subscribed to the theory that the spell is pushing sunny and neph to become the inheritors of the gods and demons so they can become vessels for their essence.
