Aight so hears me theory on the nightmare spell and stuffs. The gods and their antithesis, the unknown, are dead and that's actually a bad thing mmmkay. The nightmare spell is some fantastical ethreal contraption, probably created by weaver, that has the purpose of cultivating lesser beings into the new incarnations of the seven gods. I know there was stated to only be 6 but let's face it there probably is a 7th unknown God if it's not weaver. I'm speculating that that 7th God had something to do with the death of all the other gods and the profane unknown and somehow shattered the fabric of this other realities fundamental principles. Im talking like a deeper shattering than like the reality damage that the chained isles took from the divine flame, like a complete dysfunction of the laws of physics/reality/magic and the almagation of a bunch of different realms/realities. Think of it like the Nordic realms collapsing into each other and forming one supramassive distorted reality but instead each respective gods world or realm, the forgotten shore, chained isles, Hollow Mountains for example were at once seperate planes of existence now meshed together by the weave of the nightmare spell. Which will also become earth's fate if it succumbs to the unraveling of the nightmare spell. The spell is merely a last ditch effort to restrain the effect of the shattering and reincarnate the gods whose cycle of rebirth had been utterly destroyed. So there could possibly be more realities with sentient beings that have yet to be introduced to the nightmare spell that are simply behind earth's universe in order. I think it was mentioned that Weaver had both the blood of the gods and the unknown flowing through him which probably made him a sort of special profound enough to pull this off cuz hybrids between gods and devils usually tend to be more powerful than both in fiction. Also I'm pretty sure we know who some of the current candidates for Ascension are. Sunny is obviously the Shadow gods potential replacement, while Neph is obviously the Sun gods and its actually really cute how closely tied their fates to one another is cuz shadows can't exists without light and whatnot. Also when the group met Effie and she explained her attributes and stuff I'm pretty sure that she said she had something to do with divinity as well. Heavily suggesting that she too is carrying a spark of divinity. She's obviously the God of Wars potential replacement. As for the others idk, I don't think any other characters have been expressed to have anything to do with divinity other than those 3, which means that Sunny is almost as bound to fate with effie as he is Nephis but not quite since ya know the whole slave thing and pairing dualities of nature.
