Even if you branch out and make your own way in life, if your name is still listed within the family register then they can lay claim to your business and make decisions for you in the name of your elders. Just like the arranged marriages of lore where the children have trouble deciding their own fate the family has a strong influence over the actions of their descendants both in a social context and a legally binding sense. Such an old fashioned family is run like a cut throat business and different factions arise vying for control. 🤔 Imagine a stereotypical wealthy family with all their bad blood and skeletons hidden in the closet. Now picture the head of the family stepping down from his position in their family run business… or even better, imagine the old man dying and the vultures swooping in to tear off a piece of the meat only to discover he left a will behind. It’s this sort of family drama and intrigue that sets the scene…
