i don't think fl really loved Meng guy either. She was desperate of love, she projected that yearning first on Meng guy, then on the guy who was with her in her last moments. In both cases, they were her last hopes, one crushed her thoroughly, other didn't even got a chance properly. In a way, in her new life, they both do not exist with those particular circumstances. That guy who committed suicide with her won't be with her now because of butterfly effect, and this Meng guy will know things he shouldn't know, totally unfair for fl. It's a genius move from author, but i still found it amazing and annoying at the same time 🤣 I think author wants fl to start anew with ml without any previous memories. these memories are in a way binding her to feel grateful towards ml for what he did in past life, but she didn't really fell in love. maybe after forgetting ml she wil truly fall in love with ml. but that Meng guy remembering past memories isn't good thing
