Truthfully, I don’t love Sidina as a friend for Maxi. Shes pretty reckless and doesn’t consider that, other than herself, Maxi has to go about her business with some caution because she is of noble lineage and her husband has more than one enemies which puts a huge target on Maxis back. At least, this time she did not drag her around unaccompanied but she is really not putting herself in Maxis shoes. It’s great that she wants Maxi to have some fun and all, but at the same time, she doesn’t really care about the consequences. And I know that Maxi is not helpless and has magic to fend for herself but at the same time, she is super naive and blind to the dangers of the day-to-day world (not in a war) as she grew up sheltered and was kept apart from basically everything so she is not self assured in her ability to defend herself.
What an ending to the chapter! Dragonians obviously saw their chance to pounce on the golem rune maker and the wife of the slayer of Sektor! What was interesting going through the comments was that people believed Sir Kuahel saved Maxi, when it was clearly Uly who chopped the dragonian's arm off first. Kuahel merely dispatched the lizard preventing any questioning. Again, the church is trying to withhold information, and Kuahel performed damage control beautifully. If Riftan knew about the infiltration, he would have not allowed Maxi out of his sight and Hebby would be sent out on a hunting expedition. Kuahel and his fellow Templars appears to have been busy knocking the dragonians off one by one, hence he's so blasé about the whole affair. In an attempt to appear in control, the Church had Kuahel work in the shadows, but this also means the church deliberately withheld information from the Lord Commander. More politics coming our way and an enraged Riftan with hopefully hot desperate rumpy pumpy to make up his "lack of knowledge". Babies will be made. 🤓
Maxi was not supposed to leave the castle without telling Riftan. The man is going to be furious. The fact that another man saved her is going to be a problem. He loves her, but neglects her for politics. He needs to take her home, have a kid, and live in peace. Maxi deserves it and so does he. But without a peaceful solution to the politics, it cannot happen. And I don't want the story to end, so great new development!
