I want to bookmark this chapter for all the useful background info... but i also just want to take Maxi out of the pages and away from her horrid father. *It's not your fault.*

😑💢💢 Maxi it's not your fault your father is a piece of trash. If he paid even a little amount of attention to you, if he didn't treat you that way, you would have overcome your stuttering issue.

I really think the Duke had some hand in the death of his wives. His abuse of some sort probably killed them in top of illness and miscarriages.

Poor Maxi. Her father is the worst piece of .... He was wishing Maxi dead and remarrying as soon as her mother was gone. Ugh how can I hate a character so much in so few chapters?!

With the synopsis mentioning this is the story of two flawed characters, I'm hoping Riftan diesn' turn out to be a cruel manipulator; although so far his character seems great, the mentions of no guilt (albeit for minor things) make me wonder if he's not going to be perfect for Maxi... Other than that, I also truly hope they find love together and he helps her fins self esteem and see her own value as a human being.

Looking forward to the day Riftan finds out how Maxi was treated. Her father acts so powerful taking his anger out on sweet Maxi, but he’d cower under Riftan’s wrath.

oh, poor Maxi! no wonder she stutters and is afraid and scared all the time. so sad they didn't have child services back then... and her husband think it is because of him, but a tually Maxi thinks he is so similar ro her rough father...

oh what a horrible life Maxi had lived. there are children now going through this. I hope she gets over this fear and tells him what has happened or he sees it

I hope we get to read about Riftan standing up to Maxi’s father, it would be great to see him tremble before Riftan!!

This was a good novel. It has a good plot. Just excellent. Cant wait to Riftan's POV
