what the heck is this? One I don't really advocate beating children and two why is the author writing her acting like an oppressive authority figure? is this the first time she's meeting this kid and she's already waving a whip around because he doesn't obediently immediately open up to her about what's going on in his personal school life? also she's only a couple years older than him. I'm trying to be patient with his story? And she's doing that to other people's children? I get it I guess. The author is trying to paint a persona of her. But this is only what chapter 3 or 4? she's not coming off as a domineering woman taking care of business she's coming off as a psychopath. I just don't think this is a very clever route to go. I don't know why the author is choosing this route. I'm not finding her to be very likable so far. And I get it she was raised in the ghettos or whatever and she supposed to be a bully and a thug or whatever but she's also not supposed to be mentally slow. Even the mentally slowest amongst us knows that you can't go around beating other people's children and disciplining them. And it doesn't make sense to me that the first 2 minutes she's introduced to her little brother-in-law she picks up a wit and threatens him with physical harm if he doesn't immediately open up to her. I'm going to read a few more chapters to give this book a fair chance but if this continues I'm just going to find this female lead to annoying to deal with
First off hitting or beating does not give discipline. It actually sometimes causes more aggression and serious mental health issues in the future if it is constantly happening. It is a serious issue. And sometimes goes from a beating to abuse. So stop. I get that this girl has such a mindset but that still justifies nothing. I wished at least fictional characters were different since “we” (authors, writers) controlled them but…I guess not.. this is truly sad for people who have experienced this..and no children do not “deserve” a beating they DO NOT! Even if they are acting badly. what they deserve is to understand what they did was wrong. It should be handled the nice way. Like literally it’s two kids having a fist fight and you choose to handle the situation by hypothetically also throwing a fist?!?!! Like wth! This is soo stupid and very insensitive towards people who have experienced this. It only shows two things. 1. You think that beating is cool cuz your suddenly superior to a child?!?!! You psycho! 2. You think it’s completely fine to hit or beat a child cuz that’s how you were raised or just haven’t experienced it to know how wrong it is.
