Chu Hean really makes no sense to me. Chu Yun has never once thought of his brother as weak, and if his recalling of the past says anything, it's that he never understood why it was everyone else that was telling him his brother was weak and that they couldn't play as freely together as they grew older as they had before. After all, it wasn't Chu Yun that sent him away to a school for Omegas. Chu Yuns most offensive thought is not even thinking that Omegas are weak but in thinking that everyone has a role to play in society and like it or not, all you can do is make the best of it. Is it annoying to hear when you’re going through a crises? Yes, but it also isn’t wrong. Chu Yun married another alpha against everything in him, but he was always thinking of how he could come out on top. Chu Hean… you can’t expect for people to understand what you never explain, and I mean truly explain. All he’s done is cry about how unfair things are for him, and Chu Yun agreed because things have been unfair for himself, but he’s also reminded his brother that he’ll get through it. I don’t know, I just truly find Hean ridiculous
I can't wait to see the look on CH's face when he finds out that CY is pr* gnant. He's so stuck in this "us vs. them" mindset of omegas against alphas, so what's he gonna do when he realizes that his own brother, who he just sees as another oppressive alpha, actually shares something similar with omegas 😯
Hean's concerns are valid, his desire to do something about those concerns is valid, and aim to be his own person is valid. That said, I loathe his attitude. He acts as though he is better and more knowledgeable than everyone else, yet he won't deign to fill his brother in. His plans are shady, he himself is a hypocrite, and his behavior towards his family reads as selfish and childish. I'm sure I'll calm down a bit once he's gone for a bit, but honestly his character just ticks me off. I really want our Chu Yun to get a leg up over him and wipe that smugness of his face.
The only way CH can semi-redeem himself to me is if maybe, when CY gives birth, he's on the brink of death from a difficult delivery and CH swoops in somehow with a way to save him. Then, maaaayyybbbeee, if I'm feeling SUPER generous, I'll think he's alright. But I still won't like him, it'll be more like I'll just tolerate his existence 😒
Looks like this academy of theirs is a cover for something else, looking at Hean's skills. The way Hean is behaving is irritating me to no ends. I mean, yes I understand you're an omega and Yun is an alpha, but behaving as if Yun is one of those people who discriminates against omegas is just stupid. On the other note, these two people are upto no good. They certainly know about the secret of Zai's uncle. They are too smug and confident for people with little information.
I dislike what Hean has done and the process and selfish manner in which he is doing what he can to achieve his goals but I do agree with him not being repressed by societal beliefs and controls. Also I know he didn’t tell his family and he could have achieved his goal without hurting them, however I don’t think they would have understood and probably would have tried to convince him to do things the “normal” way and as a minimum withdrawn him from the academy and reported it.
I've struggled with holding any respect for the characters in this one for a while, but at this point I really have to give up. They show no qualification for political intrigue. If the story weren't about royal succession, but merely slice-of-life, I think it would suit the main characters much better. The story of the king and Xiao Zai's dam-father seems much more suited to the concept.
