Not sure how I feel about this -- up until this point the MC's just been a decent guy trying to survive. Not a saint, but not heartless either. He's been forced to be ruthless by the circumstances. I can't say I like him having zero pity for others (you can pity people without risking your neck to save them) or his cultivation art turning him into a humanist. I hope he doesn't get more and more heartless as it's hard to relate to a character who is no different from the enemies in the story. As in, if he's just a ruthless young master, why shouldn't the other young masters win? What makes his desires special?
