Maybe he can make equippable weapons for classes that wouldn't normally be able to use them so they can get weird and new skills. Like a spear that can be equipped by healer or mage classes. A bow that can be equipped by mages and healers. A hammer for swordsmen. This way they could get skills like magic archery, murder healing, or heavy slash. I don't really think that's what you're going for, but I think that could be a cool idea.
