The ruling family seems incompetent if the coup was so deep that they could kill all the griffins and they have to fake the death of a prince instead of, I don't know, changing their country to not be openly bigoted? It's like they care about it but not enough to actually change it even when they are attacked for it. Maybe stay away from political plots, you seem to be a touch weak on making them feel real and not like a video game side quest. Realistically, this royal family would have fallen long ago if they are this weak in their own country, even after the senate is dead.
you don't seem to be taking the difference in having levels into account. having a few people with the levels and power to practically wipe out everyone else changes the whole political scene. there is NO-WHERE in human history where this kind of power differences between individuals can be found and that would play a MASSIVE factor in any politics
coldpyr0:It isn't a tall order if you keep a tight and controlled reign, dozens of governments even in the bronze era could run a non-inclusive government that didn't care about race or origin as long as you contributed to the whole. And they didn't have armies capable of great feats of strength against a common folk who don't. A few generations of strict opposition to such views and those who hold them would be enough to stamp out most of it and then ensure that any political opposition, such as nobles and the senate are removed with over the table means would ensure you don't have mold growing under your feet. Even the most incompetent of leaders in our history knew to keep the other political powers in check, either through corruption checks or just straight out extinction. Essentially, the royal family of Landis should have been dead or ousted before now, whether by their own incompetence fueling a coup or by the neighbors noticing a crumbling empire that is hosting supremacist views. A civil war started with bigoted dogma is pretty much the king of situations that lead to foreign invasion and suppression, if only just to weaken their forces so they can't realistically target you next without massive losses.
Losing the crown prince is a big tipping point for a monarchy surrounded by a large war or wars. Bigotry and blame are eminently easy to direct at anyone 'other', and as the other commentator pointed out, gaming/rpg races are much more different than the races/cultures we have on Earth... And bigotry is rife here and always has been. Add in a power split with the senate... I can see this happening. Only question is if the fox beastkin will end up in the guild or not. He'd slightly tip the gender balance closer to even
To expand on my earlier comments and provide something constructive instead of just sounding like a whining complainer. If the bigotry is so deep in this country that they have to pretend a prince is dead how did this civil war even start? If the bigotry is so bad how did the king marry a member of another race AND have a child that grew to adulthood before all this kicked off? If it's so bad that he has to go into hiding even after they have killed the entire senate, and presumably most of their forces in the capital, it should have been assassination attempts daily since the day he was born, possibly even before just targeting his mother instead. The fact that he grew up to his current age before all this happened is what makes this plot seem weak. The implications of some of the other choices do not line up, this dude should have been even higher on the kill list than the griffins but they managed to kill all of them while this guy isn't even scratched despite the fact that they had enough people in deep enough positions to take out all of the country's air units.
