Comments of chapter undefined of Lord of the Truth

To be honest I never thought the novel would go this dark.

Story view: Does he even reflect on what happened? He left his own kin to go do a favor. He left them with gold and bandits all around. He left them with shiny objects and low strength and expects everyone to play nice around em. Author, it got dark man. Got dark. I understand the need for character development but to hear/see this happen to family members is disturbing.
