110 Where I was going

Here is the promised outline of what I was planning on doing with the fic. Seeing that I didn't get any questions I don't have anything to answer. Thanks for coming along with me on this ride I suppose.

-For the climax of Yorknew, I was going to have Kurapika finish off Bonolev before storming inside the hideout by himself as everyone else would be recuperating or Magenta was fighting Machi still. Inside of the hideout would be a final confrontation with Chrollo that I had planned out a few different ways, the main one I had was Chrollo ordering everyone to stand down as he faced Kurapika alone. Yet, right before the first attack is thrown he announces the disolution of the phantom troupe. By doing so he cripples Kurapika's chain jail as Chrollo rightly assumed his power and motive were based on revenge. So by removing his target of revenge he weakens him before he asks the rest of the living members to leave as he faces off against Kurapika. From there I was considering having Hisoka interject and it being a 1 v 1 v 1 with everyone simultaneously working together but also backstabbing eachother to come out on top.

A neat note, I for Chrollo's boosted Hatsu I was thinking of him being able to copy anothers Hatsu without stealing it tempowarily as long as he met one of the conditions to his regular Hatsu. But he could only hold one copied Hatsu at a time and it had to be someone's within eyesight. The idea being it is more risky as all terms and conditions apply even if he doesnt know it, so say he copied chain jail and used it, since it wasn;t on a troupe member he would effectively kill himself. I just thought it would be fun and fitting, as his charcterizatrion and Hatus emphazize his ability as a profiller which is a useful skill for a thief.

-After the major fight we go back to Magenta who is still being strung up all the time when Pakunoda arrives on the scene of their fight. She informs Machi of the dissolution and gives her a large sack filled with random goods from their spoils of Yorknew as they abruptly split up all the stolen goods. Leaving to everyone retreating as the fight was a stale mate and had no real reason to fight. (Machi was trying to protect the troupe as the identity of it or communal sense was what she valued. Meanwhile, Magenta just wanted to help Kurapika and didn't have much motive beyond wanting to make sure his friends didn't die)

- A quick intermission where Magenta reveals his backup plan for Greed Island, telling them about the recruitment drive. But this time, Leorio decides to come along as he puts his medical training on hiatus after Magenta convinces him. So using the few days before the interview they do a quick nen training montage. Where Magenta teaches Killua, Gon, and Leorio one advanced nen technique to specialize in.

-Arriving on Greed Island, Killua and Gon go their one way while Magenta and Leorio go their other way. Mostly because each group has their own objectives on what they want out of Greed island, one group going completionist route while the other is trying to use the nen cards and their effects for their own gain. Though at one of the card events they meet back up with the other two and the addition of Bisky, where Leorio decides to take up the opportunity to train alongside Gon and Killua. Which leaves Magenta alone until the dodgeball match, where he runs into Machi once again who happened to have gotten a copy of Greed island in her share fo the loot. There probably would have been a standoff or fight before they opt to trade cards or information as they develop a working relationship. Leading to an eventual team up when Gon comes to them for the dodgeball game, so now instead of the nen beast players it's Machi and Magenta.

As for the whole Bomber sub-plot, Magenta decides not to involve himself with exception of the dodgeball game, as he doesn't really want to win and finds the whole war to be exhausting after his involvment in the Troupe hunt.

-Moving toward Chimera Ant I was unsure how to move toward the next arc. I was considering having everyone use the card to go to Kite but I was also a fan of just Killua and Gon at the start. So when everyone else starts to join in on the operation I was thinking of the excluded characters coming in. Perhaps a small subplot or chapter where Claire (Magenta's teacher and a OC I made) calls up Magenta telling him that some of the animals bits and items they found on their adventures have been submitted to a museum or a long lived creature that was rare and earned him his first star seeing he is also a skilled Nen user. There were also some questions as to involve characters like Machi or Leorio in this arc. There is also Kurapika who would likely be excluded due to him being stuck with the Nostrade's on contract.

Early developments would be similar to the original, allowing the ant characters to emerge and allow mereum and his guards to be born. I was also going allow Kite to get isekai'd into a girl again. Giving Gon his motivation to better himself and allowing the other characters to get introduced as Gon and Killua go through another training montage. I was thinking of starting the arc there from Magenta's perspective, with many the intermission chapters beforehand being a new location like the barren sea arc to stretch my legs with original creatiuons a bit. (I was also thinking of putting a small focus on romance or building up the relation with Machi there before throwing them into Chimera Ants.)

Here I was wanting to sprinkle in some quick fights in succession for Magenta as he worked as a shock troop in the operation against the ants. Being able to be teleprtoted or yeeted into a combat zone and should he ever get into a pinch he hunkers down with his full Hatsu before being teleported out. And with this combat experience fighting stronger nen beasts and their bizarre fighting styles he would develop his Hatsu to the point he would be able to move whilst hunkered down. Allowing him completely reflect any attacks and move around giving him much more freedom in fights. I was also going to allow him to pour his own aura into attacks to strengthen them.

As for his major fight he would be against Youpi, I don't really see him able to fight meruem so it would be a nice place to end off. Especially because of the feedback loop it would cause, an constantly evolving opponent faced with someone who can always reflect their attacks back at them. So I opted for a shape shifter who seems somewhat similar to his formless Hatsu for his final battle.

I just found this arc to be hard to add my own twists or falvors to, as it was such a greatly crafted story. I just didn't want to remove some key elements or outcomes as they were so good an set up later plot points. But I feel like as I was writing things would develop in a new manner or twist, with a big turning point being the destruction of the original hive. With the possibility of the human ants not going on to serve mereum but form a splinter group or being assimilated into the combat group.

-With Gon crippled and turned into a corpse practically and Netero dead, I wanted the premise of the hunter election to remain the same. But I wasn't sure of what twist to spin on it, whether for Magenta to be on the chase for Killua and help him get to the hospital or for him to run for chairman like Leorio once did. And by doing so, he would use the position and new copnnections to ease Killua's journey. I'm not sure, I just find the politics in that arc to be fun and laid back in contrast to the race against time. Also, with the past interactions with Hisoka in Yorknew and Greed Island he could push for a more violent capturing of Killua instead of sabotaging the efforts.

-As for succession war I haven't read it yet…

As you can see my plans were much more developed the closer to where I was writing at the time, as I didn't want to construct a rigid narrative. Instead, opting to include general ideas or plot points that could be considered to build up to in earlier chapter.
