45 Questions X and X Answers

Welcome to the Q&A and FAQ chapter, I picked some comments from previous chapters and some I figured you would ask and decided to answer them in full rather than replies many would miss and have to answer the same questions over and over.

Q: Will there be any romance?

A: I don't know, seriously. I have been reading many web novels and fan fiction that have been ruined by mediocre or hamfisted attempts at romance. I often find the best romance in the many fics I have read is when it is not the main focus or plays a small role. Sure, I could add the romance or harem tag and probably quadruple my views but I don't want to compromise my story with bad romance. If it does develop naturally then that's great, and it will be part of the story I guess. As for love interests? No clue, I mean I really always liked Machi and characters like her but I don't think I could fit it in a way considering where the story is heading.

Q: Why not do a complete AU/ Why did you follow the main characters around

A: The main criticism I have seen in comments and reviews, and I don't really blame people for it. After all, why read a worse retelling of a story you already know? Well instead of doing a complete rebirth from childhood I opted for transmigration due to me being unsure if I would continue to write this story initially. So I opted to get into the action immediately, which had the consequence of the MC being unable to make any real changes to the story at the start. Another thing I would like to point out is that following a guideline of a preexisting story is easy and therefore an easy pitfall to get stuck in. I have always disliked similar stories for all the time I have read fan fics but when I first started writing I realized how hard it is to do… Regardless, I have started to branch out and go for original plotlines and characters in the expansive world of HXH and will stray from the original story with exception of a few key plot points.

A: Yes.

Q: what the heck happened with the end of the exam arc?

A: It was a trainwreck that kept going, I started to get really critical of my work and lost motivation to write as I didn't like what I was making. I started getting really cool ideas for what I could do after the exam and how I wanted to explore various ideas and scenarios yet I could not with the current setting at the time. This led to me rushing things and making tiny plot holes or weird decisions. One of these things is Magenta leaving Gon and the rest without saying goodbye or keeping good on his promise. I will try to patch up these issues in future chapters and interactions to make the story more cohesive as a whole.

Q: why is he not going to the Zoldyck testing gates to get Stronk

A: I already made two answers and I kinda like both so I will try to mash them together here. The first is that Magenta is supposed to be more of a full build rather than an all arounder. He will focus on micromanagement of his aura and using his Nen ability in creative ways to fell any opponents. Things like speed and strength don't really matter to him in the future, he is only picking up basic martial arts and endurance training as he does not have his Hatsu yet. And the second part is that I hate repetitive and sequential or otherwise formulaic fan fics. I recently tried going into the wasteland that was naruto fanfics and I kid you not the first chapter was like a 20 step on how to become op list. "Oh avoid Danzo, get Gai to teach you, get the ryumaku, steal a Sharingan lmao, hey grab some hashirama cells, oh look a fuinjutsu book and you were somehow a programmer in your past life!" I hate it, you read one and you read them all. And when I read other HxH fics everyone uses the testing gates and heavens arena to get strong and then skip greed island because they remember like two sentences Bisky said and become a perfect Nen master. I want MAgenta to explore places both on and off screen while growing at a steady pace.

Q: What the fuck are you doing with the Hatsu and will he have more than one?

A: I already have it all planned out folks. He will have one hatsu that will be developed and grow stronger with some sub-skills and by dabbling in other nen categories once he gets better. While I have seen some cool ideas about him learning some other JoJo's skills like Nen or the Spin I want to keep it to what Magenta could do in SBR, he was a strong mercenary with a lazy and somewhat whiny attitude that was a good shot with a pistol and damn hard to kill. As for if it will be identical to the stand, no it will not.

Q: what's with the weird characterization for some characters?

A: So someone asked during the exam finals with Magenta vs Gon that Gon would not refuse to fight but instead give it his all. I have to disagree, and I have seen many similar questions regarding how I depict the characters. The way I interpret them is based on their past and current actions depending on the time and place. You don't expect Gon to completely pummel Hanzo's face in the same way he did to Neferpitou at the later end of the series as he has not developed to that point yet. So I make sure to consider how far they have developed when writing interactions with characters.

Q: I know some people wonder if Magenta has the 'Joestar level IQ'

A: He doesn't? He is just very analytical to the point he gets tunnel vision and messes up on the simple things. He is logical to a fault, finding it easy to mess up with simple interactions or small-scale events. He went into a desert because he planned too far into the long term to notice the short term, he didn't even purchase a cellphone as he did not think of any circumstances where he could need one and is stranded in a dessert. The puzzles in the trick tower were just his specialty, with magenta being a former shut-in nerd.

I think that was all the questions I could think of. I also made sure to check all the paragraph and chapter comments so If there was something I missed let me know. Though on another note, there were a lot of similar questions regarding the hatsu which I kinda want to keep under wraps so as to not spoil anything so sorry if I could not answer everything you wanted to know regarding that.
