Old Wan really messed up. He clearly lost his composure because he couldn't see through Ryu anymore. The sheer number of powerful sky gods around Ryu; his talents becoming too powerful; his comprehension strength and dao; the fact that the secrets Old Wan knew about Ryu and could have been used as trump cards against Ryu, but Ryu's dao heart became more flexible so he trusted Aika with most of his secrets - basically Ryu was just above Old Wan's capacity to use as he liked and so Old wan got emotional, even though he'd never admit it. After all, Ryu always leaves the sect so why not just wait? Plus, he didn't know Ryu had Hope, so he definitely didn't know that Ryu became the sect founders (a dao god's) disciple, or that Mae (who would die for him) was taken as a disciple to her own clan's dao god, or even that even without Primus- Titus Tatsuya and Himari are enough to pack up the whole radiant star sect rn. Just so many dumb decisions and ignorance from Wan I had to rant lol
