I think Ryu is the Phoenix Sky God who found the true martial world realized he was a frog in a well and voluntarily started his reincarnation cycle. It's also possible that he's reincarnated with mysteries of heaven and earth every time gathering faith for Ryu but that's just my tinfoil theory

maybe ryu was the Phoenix in his last life (before his technically 1st life) and he reached the pinnacle of cultivation but couldn't take the last step so had to off him self (would be the theme of his life) and manipulate sacrum to give him the perfect body, he would've left behind in the death shrine a fragment of himself that has the memories but would only unlock once Ryu gets a true perfect body .-. crazy theory but still fun

so maybe or his perfect blackbody soul was somehow Ryu's original soul talent and that was why the MG did whatever they could to cripple him, which gets me thinking that Ryu's Spiritual Foundation should be very special too (maybe it was one of the last attempts of Sacrum to create a supreme powerhouse to defend it against the MG, alongside the return of the Ancient Beasts, which would pair with the 1 billion years to become at least a peak World Sea expert, but the MG's were one step ahead. Or maybe in Ryu's soul case, the Phenix SG somehow got Ryu's soul talent and improved it to what it is now, with his motives still unknown to us.
