My opinion:Better option is let hiro turn into humans at normal times when he is chillin but let him transform back into snake form when he is reserching spells or fighting you can do this as,this is the best of the both options we get to see some snake action and some skills such as hard scales still do have plenty of meaning.Basically make it so that in human form he cant be that powerfuls so he ahs to turn inot snake for fights or throwin spells.

Having him be in human form most of the time would kill the book for me. You would be taking away one of the main points of the novel, if you do that might as well just change his race and the title of the novel because 98% of the time he will be living and fighting as a human. :/

I'd rather he just build a puppet body and move his snake body into a pocket dimension. Seems like a better solution than a vanilla human form. Plus you can have there still be stakes by having that body being destroyed because it gives him access to a bunch of points.
