If he’s gonna use the transformation material as the main body, why not make multiple illusion cores? One for the kirin, and a couple for any other mythical fossils he nabs. In normal situations it’ll switch between sky, land, ocean forms. Or fire, ice, etc. In extreme situations it could fuse them all, taking the advantages and getting rid of the disadvantages, all elements too! Probably highly energy intensive though.
