Why do authors use nonsensical ways to make their characters do what they want? No game, especially VR, would have it so that people can bump into each other on a teleport pad/area. That would cause constant problems. And that whole "can only change your mind if you stay on the pad" bit is also ridiculous, people cannot stand on the pad, for the same reason as above. Want her to go to that starter village? Tell her that as someone with a high rating, she starts at one of the higher level (thus higher rewards) villages. Want the encounter with Lu Wenxian, have her walking with him walking behind her, then she hears all the complaints about the village, stops abruptly and turns to go back, smacking into him, he pushes her off into the road in front of the carriage. Everything else follows like before.
