abit too much rng on the god powers... why is the pope suddenly getting magical powers? the god powers are too vague, and how much 'power' a believer can get feels like the auther attached just for some random suspense. if you are gonna put a 'tech' MC vs magic/cultivation/holy powers, the plot will crumble... the next figth is tech vs magic that is immune to tech? what is the suspense in that? magic only works some times? then the reader feels like everything is rng and feels cheated... what could be facinating would be to build on the god and empire stuff seperately. Berengar seeks out old temples and discover the truth of his resurection, or w/e. while the empire has other enemies; be it civil war(lame), a long war vs japan, and/or a huge revelation that a african country has risen due to an antagonist has been teching for decades and suddenly consolidates the continent and is aiming for world domination
With all this desperate need for saltpeter I'm surprised that the Catholics never bothered to at least try to survey there lands for some who knows there might have been a lucky prospector who could have found some like near the Carpathian mountains there is quite a lot of saltpeter from what I have researched.
