I never understood why this character knows so much about German culture as if he lived in it. Wasn't he born and raised in America? Sure he may know of his heritage but wasn't he also poor? So why does it seem like he has tried everything German before?

I love her maturity so much. Plenty of female characters (and not just this novel) are so insecure and bratty that it's hard to get behind them. Adela is exhibit A of that point. More Yasmin please!
