I am also interested in what the Duke is planning to do against guerrilla tactics. He doesn’t have many choices being the invader. The population is against him. He’s enemies know the terrain and are closer to their supplies. He could threaten towns and cities, but he has already showed his hand in the tactic. So using hostages is out. He has to draw the guerrillas out, but what would he use as bait? I can’t think of anything that would be worth it. Other than the guerrillas leader maybe. They could rush the enemies capital city. Thou that would be difficult undertaking. Personally, there are only two ways I can see. That might achieve victory. One. Slow consolidation and projecting of force. Basically, building a fort every day and protect their supply line with supported troops. Slowly head towards the capital. The second would be to have enough supplies for a few months and push forward with speed. I’d recommend the first one, but either one may work. The first will have leakers and they can threaten supply lines. The second could be slowed down and run out of supplies. Or worse fall under siege and get envelope by the enemy. It’s a tricky problem. I’m surprised they don’t know the Austrians reinforcements are coming. No one has made it secret. If I was the Duke and I’m press for time. Some risks needs to be made. He has only a few months at most. He better move. Just saying
