Figured there was some connection between evil Ren and Everblood after the pawn analogy last chapter. Maybe Everblood doesn't want to be the Demon Lord's pawn anymore and what better way to do so then helping raise someone who will get rid of him? Ren's been pushed to his limits, but Everblood could've easily done serious damage if he was truly vindictive...
