This was a very intense battle. I held my breath for Nigel and then Wulfric. Though this is in fantasy form, it was no less as real war is...cruel, gruesome, and devastating to so many, not just the combatants, but their families on both sides. I have never been near a real battle, never heard guns shot in anger or defense; I never hope to. I have relatives and friends who have been in the thick of war. I had an uncle who was a POW for 11 tortuous months when I was 13. He came back and suffered mentally for the rest of his life. Yes, he got better and helped others along the way, but the scars remained until the day he died 2 years ago. This chapter may serve as a reminder of the horrors of war. There will always be evil people. I can only thank God for the many brave people who are willing to sacrifice their lives for the rights and freedoms of others.
